SUMMER CRUISE FLOTILLAS

NOT LONG NOW!

DSCN1108

As I have indicated in past postings this year the Lydney fleet, which now stands at 16 boats, will be moving in flotillas between Cardiff and Ilfracombe. To help you decide upon which flotilla to join I offer the following suggestions to help you make up your mind.

Obviously this is a paper exercise and we all have to be ready to accept changes usually brought about by the weather. However, it will be of use for you to know what you hope to achieve.

Hedley, following his roots, hopes to lead a flotilla along the Welsh coast towards Swansea. This route has not been attempted before on the summer cruise. So a voyage of discovery.

Phil is planning to lead a flotilla to Watchet on Sunday before setting off for Ilfracombe and/or beyond to take in Clovelly and Lundy.

Annabel is leading the smaller/slower boats or those not wanting to sail too far each day.. Perhaps spending Saturday night at Woodspring Bay before visiting a selection havens along the Somerset and Devon coast.

I (Peter) am expecting to, from Cardiff, lead a flotilla along the English coast visiting some of the smaller havens.

Whatever flotilla you choose to start in does not mean you have to stay with it, I am not trying to restrict what people do but it would be good if we can all meet up in Ilfracombe before returning to Cardiff.

All the usual rules apply and flotilla leaders will be keeping a fines book which will have to be cleared before the end of the cruise.

Start planning your cruise now.

Cheers Peter
